COVID confusion as the Government warns adults to wear masks outside

Live with COVID — treat it like the flu — no more reporting in the way we have come to know. From 15 December 2022, the reporting of tests in England has changed to a new data source. This change may highlight differences in the previously reported numbers of tests in some areas of the country.

Yet the NHS announces that COVID and flu are on the rise as schools return and adults are warned — ‘Wear masks outside if you have any kind of illness’. Is it any wonder the vulnerable are concerned? Those with Long Term health conditions are affected the worst.

It comes at a time when we see cases in China rising dramatically. Images on the news reminiscent of pandemic days — concerns over new variants. Channel 5 reported that: ‘The Kakran’ variant can be added to the increasing list.

Couldn’t be a better time to make sure that you make sure you are vaccinated — flu essential — COVID booster jabs if eligible. Stay safe and protect yourself from anyone with respiratory illness. Keep your COVID NHS phone app updated.

Better this way than to live in fear — precautions should keep most of us safe — even the more vulnerable. Some will worry — concerned — something to highlight with family and friends. This a reminder that the NHS is stretched right now — the last thing we need is another wave.

One of the biggest worries is what happens if we need the NHS — if we need to go to A&E — need an ambulance. Knowing that people are waiting for hours — dying needlessly —contracting illnesses whilst waiting — just makes it harder to take. Harder to push yourself each day. More reason to stay at home away from bugs and germs — causing despair — loneliness — increased mental health concerns.

Where will it all end? That is something that we cannot control. What we can do is be vigilant — take a COVID test if you need it — report it if it is positive — contact 111 if you need equal support — get vaccinated — ensure others do too.
