Easy tips to aid water intake for those at risk of dehydration

Developed by Lewis after his Grandma Pat suffered from severe dehydration these tasty treats are supporting the elderly, those with long-term health conditions (LTHCs) and primarily those with dementia.

The sweet treat is made from 95 per cent water and has no sugar content. They come in a range of flavours and have been recognised by The Alzheimer's Society Accelerator Programme for Dementia Innovation.

Excellent for anyone who struggles to stay hydrated with each pot containing 50 ml of water. With six different flavours — lemon — lime — orange — blackcurrant — strawberry and raspberry there’s something for everyone.

Most importantly, they are also a delicious and irresistible sweet treat and come with additional health benefits when used in combination with the intake of water throughout the day.

Harvard School of Public Health report that staying well hydrated is important to:

  • Regulate body temperature,

  • Keep joints lubricated,

  • Prevent infections,

  • Deliver nutrients to cells,

  • Keep organs functioning properly.

  • As well as improving sleep quality, cognition, and mood.

Some very positive health benefits are to be had by staying well hydrated. Jelly drops offer a way to supplement your intake of water but it’s still important to maintain a good level of normal drinking throughout the day.

The NHS recommendation is 6-8 glasses spread throughout the day. That’s the equivalent of 1.5-2.5 litres — more in hot weather or if exercising intensely.
