The Golden Days Café is designed to provide a safe space to support those living with dementia, along with carers and those who have lost loved ones to dementia.
The Golden Days Café name is inspired by Sir Bobby Robson’s successful and influential period as manager of Ipswich Town between 1969 and 1982. His most notable achievements of winning the FA Cup in 1978 and the UEFA Cup 3 years later in 1981 remain firmly etched in the history of the Football Club.
It's a safe space for town fans to come together, share stories, meet with players from the past, talk about all things ITFC and generally chat and spend time together in a safe space.
On the launch of this initiative in 2022 Leanne Smith, Community Engagement Coordinator, said “We are absolutely delighted to be launching The Golden Days Café in partnership with Ipswich Dementia Action Alliance. The Club is committed to being dementia friendly, and launching the café further cements our commitment to support and reach as many local community members as possible. We also look forward to welcoming and working with some new volunteers to deliver the monthly events.”
