No, you are not… is a post by @mindfulofdreams which is an Instagram favourite with over 111k followers. The cute — colourful — dynamic images carry important messages that relate well to those with LTHCs.

It can be easy to get into a negative frame of mind — when fatigue takes hold — brain fog sets in — cognitive difficulties arise — a feeling of failure and loneliness can develop. A bit of positive reinforcement and self-love can be required to get back on track.

This one is a reminder that you are not:

  • too dumb to learn new things

  • behind in life

  • a failure or disappointment

  • too awkward to be around

  • difficult to love

  • too broken to heal

  • too old for your dreams

  • a failure or disappointment

  • destined to be alone

Everyone person with an LTHC is unique — faces their own challenges — their inner demons. The self-care checklist identifies some elements to include each day to support our health and well-being.

They include:

  • Getting enough rest and sleep

  • Drinking plenty of water

  • Having a healthy and balanced diet

  • Moving your body

  • Managing stress

  • Spending time in nature

  • Prioritising relationships and

  • Finding joy in your life

All important — all the basics we need to keep our bodies ticking over — supporting our minds. The basics we need to take pleasure in life and to want olive our lives. What gets us up in the morning — always have something to look forward to in each day — a small highlight — a conversation — a walk — a favourite hobby. Something beyond the medical — not about medication, physio or hospital appointments — giving hope and happiness.
