Your support is needed to raise awareness of Pituitary Conditions. This year The Pituitary Foundation is asking you to ‘Tell your Story’ – this could be to your friends and family, speaking to your GP or contacting the local newspaper.

The Pituitary Foundation have created a guide with loads of resources to help you spread awareness of pituitary conditions.

Through October The Pituitary Foundation is holding its annual awareness month. The focus is to live well with pituitary conditions. Patient stories, alongside a series of online conference videos and Q&A sessions. Engaging and empowering patients, medical professionals and those who care for and support them.

Through October The Pituitary Foundation aim to increase awareness of pituitary conditions. Encouraging patients to share their stories to support those who are newly diagnosed. Conditions that often take over 6 years to be confirmed. These can be lifelong and life-altering.

Getting The Most From Your Medication 

What The Doctors Don’t Tell You!

Minimise the chance of side effects from your medication

 

This is for anyone who requires medication to be taken via prescription, especially for those with Long Term Health Conditions (LTHCs) and Disabilities who take a range of medications for different medical conditions. Relevant when you get a new medication, medication is reviewed/analysed/changed.

 

Taking steroid medication such as Hydrocortisone for those with Adrenal Insufficiency can cause some very serious side effects. Both the long and short term. Did you know that simply changing the time you take that medication could improve its effectiveness? Simple steps can make a big difference.

Do you have Pituitary Insufficiency/Addison's Disease?

How do you stay safe whilst exercising?

 

Dr Rob Andrews, Consultant Senior Lecturer in Diabetes and Endocrinology has conducted detailed research into exercise and diet for those with Pituitary Conditions and Addison's Disease. While basic principles of exercise participation should be followed, some extra precautions need to be taken. Factors such as temperature, duration, intensity and competition are considered.

New Steroid card launched to save lives of those with Pituitary Insufficiency/Addisons Disease 

If you have a medical condition which requires steroid treatment then this is for you, mainly for those with Pituitary Insufficiency. The Pituitary Foundation is aiming to increase the number of patients carrying NHS steroid cards. To keep patients safe and inform emergency services/health care providers of their condition. Ensuring the right treatment if an adrenal crisis occurs*.
