If you haven't already then read Saturday checks strategy or this won't make any sense.
It's a good day for me to be writing this. Something I like to do that is yet again showing what a control freak I am is to make sure that any decisions that can be made in 'advance' can make a huge difference. Today I'll talk you through the 'clothes' obsession. One thing I used to find was that if I woke up with brain fog or just general anxiety then I would find it hard to make what 'normal' people find easy, in this case getting clothes out to put on. Now I know a lot of people will get their clothes out the night before. I used to be one of them. I'm a bit more extreme than that!
So I organise my week - as per Saturday checklist. Then I plan out what I am going to wear each day. I make up sets including lingerie that are appropriate for the week ahead. A home set sees my delve into my physio sets box and wardrobe shelves, days out come from the wardrobe and 'out' but not smart from boxes etc. It might sound stupid BUT it's one less thing to think of each day. Sometimes I don't make and hang up all outfits, usually it's just 3 or 4. Then as I come to the point in the week I get a horrid feeling in my stomach and have to make up the rest or move ready prepared sets from the wardrobe to the door hanger where they are visible.
Clearly, my understanding carer supports me with this, carefully placing each item where it needs to be and getting things down on the day, helping me with difficult clothing to wear and generally accepting of the fact it will make her life easier too! However, one last tip if you try this is to write day in your diary what you wanted to wear when. My memory, confusion and distraction from tasks mean I can't always remember which thing was for which day and if I get the wrong one then it can lead to a spiral disaster right at the beginning of the day and that's the decision that is easy as its already been taken care of!
