Navigating your way through the Active Essex resources

When you have a long term health condition or disability it can be hard to know where to get started when it comes to exercise and sports activities.

Active Essex offer a lot of support and work in partnership with others to provide a great range of activities that can be accessed free, from online sessions to community activities.

There is also a lot of good advice and support from a large group of ambassadors who work tirelessly across the county to support those wishing to get more active.

So where do you begin? Heres a guide to what’s on offer and how to get moving your way!

Getting started

This page has additional support for those getting active for the first time, those who used to be active but have lost their motivation, those living with a disability/health problem and those who are already active but would like to search for new opportunities.

Getting Active At Home

Getting active at home is the first step for many people and COVID has led to the increase in opportunities for people to access safe and fun activities online. This link will take you to a number of options including Active families, gentle exercise and high impact.

Find your Active - Activity Finder

This is a great way to see what is gong on in your area. Search for all kinds of activities and there’s even a place for people to upload new activities for you to participate in so its worth checking back to see what new options are available to you.

Find your Active For Free

This initiative has plenty of options to help you get moving for free. It includes workouts from home and local outdoor spaces. The Find Your Active activity finder highlights lots of opportunities in your local area. From ParkPlay for families to Walking Football, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Plus utilise the new filter, by clicking to see free activities locally!

Essex All Together Ambassadors

These ambassadors aim to inspire, promote, deliver and support those with long-term health conditions and disabilities to access sports and physical activities.

You can meet the ambassadors, read their stories and see what they are getting up to including participation in a recent Superheroes at home virtual challenge.
