This series of short blogs aims to guide you through some of the strategies that I have 'invented'. Often our psychologist or care worker will give us some advice and I run away with it or we adapt it to help it fit us specifically. Others we tumble across by mistake and many are very random but do actually work! I hope these will help and support you with your coping strategies. They can work for mental health, health and well being and physical health so you can fit all of those 3 elements in.

But remember these are just OUR ideas and experiences - read them and laugh, read and try, read and adapt! It's all up to you.

So let's get going.....

Yoga is definitely my friend and I rely on it everyday to clear my head, relax my aching muscles, keep me calm, help me sleep and sometimes it can even help me avoid a full addison's crisis if used carefully. However, these are well known situations to use it for and there's research a plenty that will tell you how effective this activity can be utilised by any one for stress relief and relaxation.

However, the part I have now is an extension of this. If I can get my breathing right and on my outward breath correct I can 'blow' into my happy place. A place I love, the sounds, the colours, the look. Whilst this is happening I often somehow solve problems. I have had all sorts of great things coming into my head. Like where I've left a vital piece of information, how to solve a problem, what i need to fix a difficult situation. Somehow by 'zoning out' I can get beyond the voices and the brain fog.

It doesn't happen every time, but it can happen. The benefit is that I get some stress relief and can just relax so to have anything on top is literally like the cherry on top!

There are so many publications available if you want to give it a try. You can get yoga sequences on app's and on the internet easily. Just pick something that you think is your level and give it a try. If you prefer to learn from an expert then classes are run at leisure centres and fitness gyms, community halls etc so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding something that suites you!

Just give it a try - you just never know what it could do for you!
